Wow, September has really flown by! All of our students are checking out library books and the self check in and check out is really flowing along! Our first graders are about to begin checking out from the shelves again since we are finally back in the routine Hurricane Florence disrupted.
I am currently taking a class called Improving Reading Comprehension for Grades 4-8 and I am learning so much! Many of the strategies we are learning can be taught to children in lower grades as well. Today I decided to observe a 3rd grade class and they were talking about making predictions which is what my current lesson plan for class is about. It is great when things come together like that. We have a TON of new books for our book club section and to share with teachers in our Teacher's Resource area. Mrs. Anderson is prepping the books to be put out. Also, 3 copies of the new book in the Dogman series should be arriving today or tomorrow. I know the students will be super excited to check these out! Johnny Appleseed stoped by to visit with our Kindergarten Rangers and I was honored to host him in the Learning Commons. I learned a lot about Johnny, especially that he was born on September 26th, which is tomorrow!! Until next time!
